Why Insulate?

Keep Heat In, Keep Bills Down

Up to 35% of heat in a poorly insulated home escapes through the walls and roof. Adding the right insulation is one of the most cost-effective improvements you can make — reducing your heating bills and making your home more comfortable year-round.

Insulation also makes heat pumps and other low-carbon heating systems far more effective. It's often the first step we recommend before any other upgrade.

Our Insulation Services

The Right Insulation for Your Home

Every property is different. We assess your home and recommend the most effective insulation solution for your specific situation.

Most Popular

Loft Insulation

Loft insulation is the single most impactful measure in most homes. Heat rises, and without adequate insulation in your loft, it simply escapes through the roof. We install mineral wool or blown fibre insulation to the recommended depth of 270mm, dramatically reducing heat loss.

Quick to install, typically completed in a day, and often the most cost-effective insulation measure available.

Internal Wall Insulation (IWI)

Where external wall insulation isn't practical, internal wall insulation is the solution. Insulated plasterboard or a timber frame filled with insulation is fitted to the inside face of external walls, significantly reducing heat loss through the walls.

Suitable for solid-wall properties and homes where external alterations aren't possible.

Room-in-Roof Insulation (RIR)

For homes with a habitable room built into the roof space — such as a converted loft bedroom — standard loft insulation isn't suitable. Room-in-roof insulation is installed between and over the rafters, around the room's walls, and beneath the floor, ensuring the entire living space is properly insulated.

Essential for any room-in-roof space to prevent significant heat loss and draught problems.

Underfloor Insulation

Suspended timber floors can account for up to 15% of a home's heat loss. We install rigid insulation boards or mineral wool beneath the floorboards, draught-proofing the floor and retaining warmth that would otherwise be lost through the ground.

Particularly effective in older properties with suspended floors and a crawl space beneath.

Common Questions

Insulation FAQs

During your free survey, we assess your property and recommend the most effective insulation measures based on your home's construction type, current insulation levels, and your priorities. We'll clearly explain the options and expected benefits before any work is agreed.

Loft insulation is typically completed in a single day. Internal wall insulation and room-in-roof projects vary depending on the size and complexity of the property, but we will give you a clear timeframe at the survey stage.

When installed correctly, insulation does not cause damp. We ensure all work meets current standards and includes appropriate ventilation provisions. Any pre-existing damp issues would be identified during the survey and addressed before installation.

Yes — insulation measures can be covered by the Home Energy Scotland grant for eligible homeowners. Eligibility depends on your property and circumstances. We can help you understand what may be available during your survey.
